The Mastlift is a safe and comfortable hoisting system that allows one person to ascend the mast of a sailing yacht easily and with minimal physical effort. It is mainly used for mast maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

The Mastlift is attached to the main halyard, genoa halyard, spinnaker halyard, or boom, depending on the application, and is operated manually using an endless line—no electricity is required.

The user sits in a stable seat, such as a bosun’s chair or a lifting aid for disabled persons, and can control their upward and downward movement.

This Mastlift model is designed for masts up to 25 m in height. For smaller masts (up to 13 m), the Mastlift 13 m is available. Please refer to the specific product description.

The Mastlift is versatile and can be used on sailing yachts, catamarans, and larger boats. It can also serve as a hoist for tasks such as tree trimming, façade cleaning, or painting.

Yes, the Mastlift is designed to be operated by one person. However, having a second person on deck is recommended for additional safety. This person can also help pull the endless line if necessary.

It is naturally more comfortable and safer to ascend the mast while in the harbor or at anchor, without wind or waves.

With our guiding pulley (accessory), the Mastlift can also be operated safely in windy or wavy conditions. In this case, we recommend securing the endless line at deck level with an opening block to prevent it from blowing away.

Always use the highest available halyard to attach the winch. If work above the masthead is required, we recommend our masthead strap (accessory).

It attaches to the Mastlift with a safety carabiner. The integrated step and back straps make it possible to work safely above the masthead.

We always recommend attaching the Mastlift climbing system to a second halyard for additional safety, as we cannot know the condition of your halyard.

Before climbing, always test the device at deck level: ascend approximately 1 meter, check that the brake engages, lower yourself back down, and test the brake again. Only then should you begin your ascent.

The Mastlift may cause minor scratches on the mast due to friction or accidental impacts, especially when used in rough sea conditions.

To help prevent such damage, we recommend the following:

• Use our neoprene protective cover (an important accessory).
• Use our guiding pulley (accessory).
• Keep the endless line clear of the mast while hoisting.
• Hoist slowly and carefully, avoiding strong winds and rough seas.

Each Mastlift climbing system comes with an endless line suited to the height of the mast. The rope is spliced into a continuous loop. Thanks to the special splice and additional stitching at the joint, it maintains a consistent thickness throughout and runs smoothly through the winch.

No. With this special splice, the core is interlocked, the outer sheath is compacted and also stitched. This produces a slight, noticeable taper at the joint, which may increase a little with use. This is completely normal and does not affect safety.

When ordering, simply provide the approximate mast height, measured from the deck to the masthead. You will then receive an endless line of the correct length. The important thing is to ensure that it is not too short, so it always remains within reach.

The Mastlift can be stored compactly in a bag (accessory) or box.

Store it in a dry place. This will keep it ready for use and out of the way on board.

The Mastlift winch requires minimal maintenance. Simply wipe it down with a damp cloth after use, especially following exposure to salt water, and store it in a dry place.

Moving parts should be checked regularly to ensure they function properly. For frequent or heavy use, we recommend having the unit serviced by an authorized service provider.

For safety reasons, repairs are carried out either at our production facility in Mallorca or by one of our certified partners. Spare parts are generally available.
