Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small file that a website saves on your device when you visit it. Alongside cookies we use two other forms of browser storage, local storage and session storage, which for the purposes of this policy work the same way: they keep data on your device. Whenever this policy says "cookies", it means all three.

They serve very different purposes. Some are essential for the shop to work at all, for instance so that your basket is not emptied when you move to another page. Others exist only to measure how the site is used or to show you advertising, and those are never switched on without your permission.

3. How to accept, reject or change your mind

The first time you arrive we show you a notice with three options: accept everything, allow only what is necessary, or choose category by category. Rejecting takes exactly as much effort as accepting and does not restrict your use of the shop in any way.

Your answer is stored for six months; after that we ask again. You can change it whenever you like through the "Manage cookies" link in the footer. The change takes effect immediately: any category you withdraw stops being used. Cookies already stored can be deleted from your browser, as explained in section 10.

4. Necessary cookies and storage

Without these the shop cannot provide the service you are asking it for, so they do not require consent. They are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with anyone.

• switec_consent (local storage): remembers your answer to the cookie notice so you are not asked again on every page. Six months.
• switec-cart-storage (local storage): the products you have added to your basket. Until you empty it or clear your browser data.
• switec-cart-session (local storage): a random identifier containing no personal data, which lets your basket survive closing the browser. Same duration as above.
• switec-coupon-storage (local storage): the discount code you have applied.
• switec-wishlist-storage and switec-compare-storage (local storage): your wishlist and the products you have lined up for comparison. They stay on your device and are not sent anywhere.
• access_token and refresh_token (local storage): keep you signed in. They only exist if you have an account and have logged in, and they disappear when you log out.
• Checkout data (session storage): the address, email and pending order while you complete your purchase, so you do not have to type them again if you go back or if the payment fails. Cleared when you close the tab.

When you pay by card we take you to the Redsys payment gateway, which is a separate website with its own cookie policy.

5. Our own audience measurement

We count visits with our own system, with no intermediary: the data stays on our servers, is not passed to anyone and is not used for advertising. It tells us which pages are read, what kind of device people browse from and which parts of the shop are failing.

It is built not to identify you. The cookie cannot be read by JavaScript, your IP address is truncated before being stored, and the value that tells one browser from another is recalculated every day, so it cannot recognise you from one day to the next. For that reason, and because the measurement never leaves our own website, it is exempt from consent under the Spanish Data Protection Agency's guidance on the use of cookies.

• __sw_s (first-party cookie): identifies your visit while it lasts. Thirty minutes from the last page you request.
• switec-tracking (session storage): remembers how you arrived — a search engine, an advert, a link on another site — so the visit can be attributed. Cleared when you close the tab.

If you accept analytics cookies and are signed in, we also link the visit to your account. If you reject them, the visit is still counted but stays anonymous.

6. Analytics cookies

Only set if you accept them. They give us a more detailed picture of behaviour in the shop than we obtain on our own. They are managed by Google through Google Tag Manager.

• _ga: tells one browser from another in order to count users. Two years.
• _ga_<identifier>: keeps the state of the measurement session. Two years.

7. Advertising cookies

Only set if you accept them. They let us measure how our adverts perform and show you advertising related to what you have looked at.

• _fbp: identifies the browser in order to attribute visits arriving from our adverts on Facebook and Instagram. Three months.
• _fbc: stores the identifier of the advert you clicked on. Three months.
• _gcl_au: attributes conversions arriving from our Google adverts. Three months.
• In addition, the Meta and Google tags may set cookies from their own domains (facebook.com, doubleclick.net) subject to their respective policies.

8. Data we send from our server

If you accept advertising cookies, we send Meta the same events its tag records — a purchase, for example — from our own server, so that they are not lost when the browser blocks the tag. Contact details from the order travel with them, such as email, telephone, name and town, irreversibly encrypted before they leave our systems: Meta can only check whether they match someone it already knows, not read them.

If you reject advertising cookies we send nothing.

9. International transfers

Google and Meta may process this data outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States. Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognised as providing an adequate level of protection in its decision of 10 July 2023.

10. Deleting cookies from your browser

You can delete or block them at any time in your browser settings. Bear in mind that blocking the necessary ones may stop the shop working properly: your basket, for instance, will be emptied every time you change page.

We may update it when the cookies we use change, or when the rules governing them do. If the change affects cookies that require consent, we will ask you again.
