Our universal bird and seagull protection system provides complete coverage for any part of your boat where bird droppings are a problem.
It can be installed on railings, roofs, swim platforms, mooring covers, and other areas, keeping your vessel clean and free from nuisance birds.
Versatile Mounting System
The system consists of two main components:
Universal Base:
Secures with two screws.
Compatible with different types of mounts available in our catalog, depending on where you want to install it.
Body with Nine Polyester Rods:
Each rod has small balls on the ends to prevent birds from perching.
Easy installation: place the base, attach the body on top, turn half a rotation (bayonet lock), lower the safety pin, and it’s ready to use!
For railings or tubes, we recommend the specific railing mount.
The rods are individually replaceable and can be partially removed depending on use (e.g., on swim platforms, rods facing the stern mirror can be removed).
If a rod gets damaged, you can purchase a replacement here.
Convenience and Durability

1. What is the SWI-TEC Scarecrow for?
The deterrent prevents seagulls and other seabirds from landing on boats, yachts, or marina facilities and soiling them.
2. How does the bird deterrent work?
The system operates with movable rods that rotate through wind and slight movements. This constant motion reliably keeps birds away without causing them any harm.
3. Does the seagull deterrent harm the birds?
No. The SWI-TEC Seagull Scarecrow is a purely mechanical defense system. It drives the birds away through movement of the rods without injuring them.
4. Areas of application – Where can the bird deterrent be used?
- Water sports: On sailing and motor yachts, e.g., on the boom, bimini, deck, radar arch, or railing.
- Marinas: On docks, poles, or boathouses.
- Buildings & facilities: On rooftops, solar panels, masts, or industrial facilities that need
protection from bird droppings.
5. Is the installation complicated?
No. The deterrent is easy to install. Depending on the model, it is mounted either with a bracket or a screw fitting.
6. Can I also use the seabird deterrent while underway?
Yes, depending on the model. The “Universal” model is primarily used in harbors or at moorings. Thanks to the quick-release bayonet fitting, it can be mounted or removed very quickly. During travel, it is safely stored in the supplied bag and afterwards reattached to the fixed base and secured with the locking pin. This way, your boat remains permanently
protected from birds even when unattended.
7. Power supply – Does the system need electricity or batteries?
No. The bird deterrent works completely mechanically. Movement is generated solely by:
- Airflow
- The swaying and movements of the boat
As a result, the system is absolutely maintenance-free and independent of energy sources.
8. How do I maintain the deterrent?
Occasional cleaning it with fresh water is usually sufficient to remove dirt or salt deposits.
9. Is the deterrent weatherproof?
Yes. All materials are seawater-resistant, UV-stable, and designed for permanent outdoor use. Depending on sunlight exposure and place of use, some microfibers may loosen from the rods over time, but this does not affect performance in any way. (In this case, we recommend wearing gloves when installing or dismantling the system).
10. Models & sizes – What versions are available?
- Standard models for boats, in different spans depending on the mounting location.
- Compact versions for smaller areas or cockpits.
- Special versions with brackets for railings, radar arches, or fixed installations.
This allows the coverage to be individually adapted to each surface.
11. Can the deterrent be repaired – are spare parts available?
Yes. All spare parts are available directly from our production facility. Repairs are very easy to carry out. Individual rods can be removed by loosening the Allen screws. The new rods are simply inserted and screwed back into place.

Mein schmucker, kleiner SeaScape18 hängt an einer Boie auf dem Greifensee im schönen Zürich Oberland. Als ich nach 10 tägiger Absenz diesen August einen Segelausflug tätigen wollte, war das komplette Deck inklusive Cockpit und die Gross Persenning mit ekliger Möwen Kacke bedeckt. Nach ca. 2 Stunden intensiven Putzen war das Schiff wieder benutzbar. Noch am gleichen Abend bestellte ich 2 Mövenschutz Universal von Swi-Tec. Nach drei Tagen klingelte TNT an der Haustür. Sofort montierte ich diese zwei “Möwenschrecke”. Seither fliegen die Möwen in einem grossen Bogen um mein nun immer sauberes Schiff.
