When a rat tries to pass, the disc rotates and drops it into the water. Insects are also blocked by the rubber insert.

02 For which lines are the rat guards suitable?
Our rat guards are designed for all common mooring and dock lines. They can be used flexibly and reliably protect your boat – no matter how you are moored.

03 Which material is used?
SWI-TEC Rat Guards are made of high-quality, UV-resistant plastic. The material is not only extremely durable and robust, it’s also completely weatherproof – specially developed for the tough conditions at sea.
04 How easy is the installation?
Very easy! The Rat Protection is opened, placed around the line, and securely closed – no tools required. Then simply attach the rotating disc and the guard is ready to use. You can even install it while the mooring line is already fastened. If the rope is slightly thicker than the pre-installed rubber insert – no problem. Just replace the inserts with the included ones that have a larger opening. (Loosen the hex screws in the body, remove the old insert, put in the new one, and lightly tighten the screws again.)
05 Do I need to secure every mooring line?
Yes, we recommend protecting every line. Rats will always find the easiest way – and with all-around protection, you effectively eliminate all possible entry points.
06 Can the rat protection also be used on the anchor chain?
Absolutely! It is lightweight, compact, and can be quickly attached and removed from the anchor chain or rope. This way, you enjoy comfort and safety on board even while at anchor.
Rats are excellent swimmers and can easily climb up an anchor chain – something that several of our customers have already confirmed.
07 How easy is it to maintain the product?
Very easy: simply rinse with fresh water and it’s ready for use again. No rust, no special care – just reliable protection.
08 Are there different sizes available?
Yes, the right solution for every line thickness. Depending on the model, we cover line diameters from 15 mm up to a maximum of 75 mm. (The large models up to 75 mm are mainly used on superyachts and in commercial shipping.) This way, you are always well equipped and will find the right size for your yacht.
09 How long does the rat guard last?
Thanks to the highly durable material, you can rely on your rat guard for many years. An investment in your yacht’s safety that truly pays off in the long run.
